Shubhra Chakra (शुभ्र चक्र) – The Pure Wheel

Shubhra Chakra is a soulful celebration of circles, metals, and mirrors—shapes and materials that have held meaning in Indian homes for centuries. The name itself is inspired by its very essence: "Shubhra" means pure, luminous, or radiant, much like the silver-toned gleam of aged brass. "Chakra" refers to the circular form that binds this artwork together, both literally and spiritually.

This handmade wall hanging features three distinct circular elements:

At the center is a mirror artwork set against a solid vermillion silk background, adorned with leaf and teardrop-shaped mirrors that shimmer gently, catching light just like antique mirror décor in old Indian havelis.

Framing this are two different types of brass bangles—one of which is bordered with traditional ghunghroos, giving the piece not only form but also a hint of sound and movement, reminiscent of temple bells and festive adornments.

All three circular components are hand-stitched and tied together using kasab thread, a material often used in ceremonial and bridal crafts, symbolizing both strength and grace.

To complete the design, a kasab thread loop at the top allows the piece to hang easily on any wall, making it perfect for rustic or ethnic interior settings. The aged brass bangles and mirror center blend old-world charm with thoughtful reuse, reflecting India’s long-standing tradition of giving everyday objects a new artistic life.

Measuring 14 inches in length and 5 inches in width, Shubhra Chakra is not just a decorative piece. It is a tribute to Indian metal artistry, craftsmanship, and heritage storytelling. It holds space for memory, reflection, and devotion in your home—just like the circles it carries within.

In 2021, Pooja Dave was 22 years old when she noticed something most people walk past without a second thought. India’s handicraft industry had skilled hands, beautiful work and genuine value, but very little structure.

She decided to change that through a business. IBHI brought together India’s regional textile traditions like Banarasi, Patola and Silk with the handcraft skills of women who had never had a formal livelihood.

Today, 355 women across Kadi, Kalyanpura and Sanand work with IBHI. They are skilled artisans with a craft, a workplace and an income.

Every IBHI piece takes a minimum of 12 hours to make. Twelve hours of cutting, layering, stitching and finishing by hand, with precision and without shortcuts.

When you buy an IBHI piece, you are not just buying decor. You are supporting a system built to give Indian craft the structure it deserves and the women behind it the recognition they have earned.
