IBHI designed a beautiful Chandarvo with appulent frill- it was created for a very special friend of IBHI and of course it turned out amazing.

The basal size of the chandarvo is 33 inches X 33 inches and length of the frill is 15 inches. It has 4 loops made using silk thread for hanging the chandarvo.

Importance of Chandarvo in Gujarati culture:

In Gujarati culture, "Chadarvo" (ચંદરવો), also known as "Chandra Darshan," is considered an important ritual for "Gruh Shanti," which translates to "peace and harmony within the home." Gruh Shanti is a significant ceremony performed to bring positive energy, prosperity, and well-being to a household.

The importance of Chadarvo for Gruh Shanti in Gujarati culture lies in the belief that the appearance of the new moon (crescent moon) on the evening of Amavasya (no moon day) is auspicious and holds divine significance. The sighting of the crescent moon signifies the end of darkness and the beginning of a new lunar month, symbolizing the renewal of positive energies and the elimination of negativity.

During the Chadarvo ceremony for Gruh Shanti, family members gather together and perform various rituals and prayers. Some common practices include:

  1. Offering prayers to the moon: Family members offer prayers to the moon and seek blessings for peace, prosperity, and well-being for the entire household.

  2. Lighting lamps or diyas: Lighting lamps or diyas during Chadarvo symbolizes the dispelling of darkness and the presence of divine light in the home.

  3. Offering flowers and incense: Flowers and incense are offered as a mark of respect and to create a serene and spiritually uplifting environment.

  4. Reading scriptures and performing puja: Sacred texts and scriptures may be read, and a puja (ritual worship) may be performed to invoke divine blessings.

  5. Sharing a meal: After the ceremony, family members come together to share a meal, signifying unity, love, and togetherness.

By performing Chadarvo for Gruh Shanti, it is believed that the household can be blessed with positive energies and harmony. The ritual fosters a sense of familial and spiritual connectedness and reinforces the importance of maintaining peace and goodwill within the family.
